The ship

Aura is a 49 ft alumium sailyacht, built at the Palmer Johnson wharf in 1971. It was designed by Sparkman & Stephens, for the Admiral’s Cup. It is a beautiful S-spant with a flush deck.

We are still trying to figure out the complete history of Aura. She was built in ’71 for Wally Stenhouse. It is a sistership of Bay Bea and Scaramouche, both of which are in America. From 1971 to 1975 Aura competed in several ocean races, and won in 1974 the WORC title (World Ocean Racing Championship).

In 1975 Aura was sold and renamed Tuia. Under this name she participated some years in several races, around Hawaii. Later Aura changed owners again, and got the original name again. In 1997 Aura was refitted in New Zealand.

Aura did already some tours around the world, and we are adding one more to that!
